AND OVER IN THE ARIEGE PYRENEES ...
... is L'Atelier d'Artiste, the rather lovely eco-converted barn that forms part of our old stone farmhouse, Maison Grillou. Spacious, beautifully renovated and fantastically equipped, it sleeps two people in great comfort. Set in the rolling green foothills of the natural park, this is a secret place … no other visible houses, no passing traffic, no street lights, nothing to disturb the deep peace but birdsong and occasional cow bells in the valley below.
Combine with Maison Leela to create a two-centre Pyrenean holiday, or just take a week or two to discover this almost totally unknown part of France. Find out more >>
MAISON LEELA: TERMS AND CONDITIONS 2018
We hate rules and regulations, but ...
... for your clarity as well as ours we need to have some simple terms and conditions that govern your booking and your stay with us. We've done our best to write them in plain English, though please forgive us if they sound a little formal and terse; that’s down to the subject matter and not to us! They are important and form the basis of your contract with us, so we do ask you to read them carefully before booking; when you submit your booking form you are signifying that you've read and that you accept everything written below.
Here they are:
BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
When you make an enquiry about particular dates we will on request hold those dates for a maximum of 48 hours in order to give you time to make practical arrangements, book flights, and so on. If we have not received a booking form from you within that time we reserve the right to take other bookings for those dates.
On receipt of your booking form, an email confirmation will be sent to you within 24 hours. In order to finalise your booking you must then pay us a deposit of within 7 days. Your deposit will be 40% of the total cost of your stay if you've booked more than 8 weeks before your arrival date; for later bookings the whole cost of your stay is payable in order to confirm your reservation.
You may pay your deposit
2. Paying your balance
The balance of the cost of your holiday is payable no later than 8 weeks before your arrival date.
CANCELLATION AND CURTAILMENT
1.Cancellation or curtailment by you
Your deposit is non-refundable in the case of cancellation or curtailment. However, we'll do our best to re-let your accommodation; if we succeed, we may return a proportion or all of your deposit to you on a goodwill basis, less an administration charge to cover any costs or losses incurred by us in the process.
If you cancel or curtail your booking less than 8 weeks before your arrival date, we can only refund your balance payment if we can re-let your booked dates and once again, any refund will be made after deduction of any actual costs or losses we may incur.
If you cancel part of your booking or cut short your stay after your arrival, you will remain liable for the full payment as if you had stayed with us for the full term of your original booking.
Cancellations must be confirmed to us in writing, by email or conventional mail, and will be acknowledged in writing by us.
2. Cancellation or curtailment by us
In the very unlikely event that we have to cancel your stay (for example, an unforeseen emergency situation, damage to the house by fire, storm etc, or any other circumstances) we will of course refund your entire payment. Our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us and we can't be held liable for losses you may incur in respect of plane and/or other travel or alternative accommodation, although we will of course do our best to help you find alternative accommodation.
We very strongly recommend that you take out adequate travel insurance to cover yourself against cancellation or curtailment and other possible losses such as loss of valuables and damage to property. We cannot be held liable for loss however caused. We also recommend that you take out a suitable policy to cover yourself against any damage you may cause to the property during your stay.
SMOKING AND FIRE RISK
The entire house, the terrace and the garden are strict non-smoking zones; this extends to electronic cigarettes. Guests who do not respect this rule will be asked to leave immediately with no refund given. We make a ‘recovery charge’ of 150 euros if there is evidence of smoking anywhere indoors.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
You may arrive at the cottage from 4pm on your arrival day, and depart at any time up to 10am on your departure day.
All guests must be at least 18 years of age.
Accommodation at Maison Leela is available by reservation only, and for a maximum of two people, using either one or two double beds. Our sofas are not sofa beds and may not be slept on under any circumstances.
The minimum period of reservation is seven nights.
Maison Leela is for booked guests only. Only persons who have previously stayed at Maison Grillou, and whose names and addresses are specified on the booking form, may stay in or use the accommodation, and you may not sub-let your booking to other guests. Contact details for both guests must be provided. If you wish to entertain friends during your stay you must clear this with us first; overnight stays are not permitted.
Our parking area can accommodate one medium sized car. Cars that are too large for the space must be parked in a designated space further down the street and may not be parked on the street outside the house, or any other house, at any time.
We'll do our best to ensure that all advertised services are available during your stay, but occasionally life has other ideas and things go awry, through nobody's fault. "C'est la vie", as we say here: we'll do everything we can to rectify things, but can't be held liable for any interruption or breakdown in services due to ‘force majeure’ or other circumstances outside our control.
You must look after your accommodation during your stay. This means that you must keep all furniture, fittings and effects (inside and outside the property) in the same state of repair as at the start of your stay. You must leave your accommodation in the same state of general order in which you found it on your arrival; that doesn't mean you need to do a day-long spring clean, but it does mean that it needs to be basically clean and tidy so that we can prepare it for the next guests within the limited time available. We provide you with the tools and cleaning materials to make that possible.
You must also ensure that all doors are locked whenever you go out and when you leave the house on your departure day. Failure to do this not only invalidates our insurance but puts at risk the house, your possessions and our own fixtures, fittings and furnishings; you will be liable for any and all loss or damage caused through failure to lock up.
Any breakage, spillage, staining or other damage must be notified to us straight away and not left until your departure day.
You must be contactable by email during your stay at Maison Leela. We will send your departure instructions to you this way a couple of days before you leave; we will also contact you if there are any advised storm or weather warnings that need you to take specific action.
We don't at present require you to pay a damage deposit, but if you break any of these conditions we reserve the right to make an additional cleaning charge and/or make a claim against you for repair or loss as a result of damage caused. Any claim we make will be backed up with photographic evidence and based on actual costs.
Maison Leela is a village house in a community of full-time residents; we ask that you respect your neighbours and your neighbourhood at all times during your stay.
The booking contract between us, and any dispute arising out of it, is wholly governed by French consumer and contract law.
